CIM - chemical induced migraine
CIM – chemical induced migraines. Yesterday once again I was near someone wearing perfumed lotion causing a severe migraine. There is a difference from a normal migraine (my normal migraine caused from hormone s or for some unknown reason). For me a normal migraine usually starts with nausea, visual disturbances and then wham! Your head is pounding. Migraines from scents start for me after being exposed to a scent that I am sensitive to (at least 98% of the perfume/cologne on the market) it sometimes triggers an immediate asthma attack, but then there is a subtle confusion that begins, I can’t think clearly, nausea begins, can’t concentrate, feel sick, my head begins to throb. This migraine is worse than a normal migraine because it affects my ability to think clearly, there have been times I don’t recall half the drive home because the pain is so intense! Then you go back to work the next day it that migraine is almost gone but lingers, and someone or sometimes the same person is wearing the scent again (after all most people don’t believe you they think it is all in your head), and the process starts all over, day after day you get to the point that you pray for god to either cure this defect or take you away and end the pain. So I’m thinking why refer to it as a migraine only when you know it is caused by the chemicals from the fragrance you are exposed to, hence my new name of CIM (chemical induced migraine).

Because I suffer from CIM I ask anyone that reads this to think twice before putting that scent on because what smells sweet to you sends some of us fleeing for our life.
